Ever noticed this is alot worse in younger women? Say age 13-17? I think it's the peer pressure that's making them do this. Peer pressure in teenage women is supposidly the worst.. that's why so many more teenage girls turn out to be smokers.

They dress like that to fit it.. even tho they don't "fit in" if you know what I mean..

My GF's neace is going through that stage... But since my GF's a b-yatch she told her and hurt her feelings... One good thing came from it though... she runs and exercises now. she also eats better and alot less. I think she is gonna be just fine. I also think she will thank her aunt one of these days.

what if someone found you not to be all that appealing and told you to not show your face in public?

one thing that bothers me is people who think they are so attractive that people they perceive to be less attractive to be beneath them. ever heard of the ugly duckling who turned into a swan? anything's possible. plus, honestly - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. there are men out there who prefer bigger girls just as there are women who prefer skinny twerps.

I have a daughter, granted she is 3, but still, as parents it is our job to guide them into healthy lifestyles. I can't wait for when she starts running with me.

Hmmm... actually she already has... at 3 she ran an entire mile!!! LOL -- it was because she REFUSED to get back into the jogging stroller, she had the biggest smile on her face when we got home. SHOWED ME!!! Hopefully she'll never fall into this category!

Nobody is talking about being attractive. The topic of this thread is about guts and half shirts, not faces or ugly ducklings

A gut is a gut in everyone's eyes, so if you have one, its simple, don't wear a half shirt in public. You will be doing yourself and everyone else a favor.

well, but the point that i was making was that if you're confident enough with your body, be it your face, your gut, the lack thereof, or whatever - you SHOULD be allowed to wear what you want. and you said no they shouldn't b/c it turns stomach.

but whatever, i'm the ugly fat girl in the burlap bag so what do i know

good job mom! I think environment has alot to do with physical fitness. learn it young and it becomes habit when your older.

Fat kids usually have fat parents, and vice versa.
