  • Do you believe in God?

I'm very confused in the subject.

My parents are athiest and I was raised in a completely "God Free" environment.

Still, I was and am a curious individual. So I've somewhat "studied" christianity. Not alot.. just went to church the odd time and spent many hours just reading the bible. There's actually some interesting stories and stuff in there. (Alot of dry stuff too).

I guess I've learnt enough to go from confuseing me.. to REALLY confusing me.

I mean... the world around us is amazing. It's hard to believe it all "Just happened". However, christianity and the bible often don't make sence to me.. the bible flat out contradicts itself in a few places. Seems christianity is only willing to listen to the passages that they choose..

So I'm kinda stuck in the middle..

Auri - this has to be one of the best quotes I've ever read.

My stomach hurts from laughing so hard.

If that were written by me, I think I'd have to retire.

Who knows for certain? Both bring you gifts throughout the year, both are fat, both are bearded (white), and most importantly they both have red jumpsuits.

I think the evidence speaks for itself.

OK.. I'm going to ask you some questions.

Feel free to tell me to leave you alone..

What are your comments about the contradictions within the bible? Do you simply ignore them, or is there some sort of an explanation?

So Jesus is the son of god. Yet Jesus is Lord. So who really is god? Is it Jesus or his dad? Is there 2 gods? Did the torch get passed or something and now pa is in retirement?

I believe. Too many amazing things in my life to question it. Wait til your wife gives birth. That will help your faith a bit. How does a human live in a bag of water for 9 months, then come through the birth canal and all of a sudden, starts breathing air? IMO there is no question a higher power.

this is probably one of the funniest lines ever. thank you auri.
as for do i beleive in god i beleive in a higher power but not the christian concept of god and going to church titheing and even if you lead a flawless life if you dont beleive one thing you go to hell. while a murderer can go to heaven if he is baptized. dosnt make sense to me. my dad is a southern baptist preacher and religion was crammed down my throat i guess i learned so much that it became impossible to beleive.

In the garden of eden, they had dinosaurs. Fossils prove it.

Also Adam used his Toro weedwacker every Saturday to keep up the place (they didnt have lawn services at that time, that was invented during the reign of Osmosis - who in fact parted the burning bush to roast marshmallows on mount vesuvious, where he carved by hand the 5 commandments).

GG I have what you call blind faith. I don't question it, I don't think about it. Your brain will get in the way of your faith if you try to make sense of it all.

Thats why scientific minded people & the engineer type believe in scientology, they let their heads get in the way...

I was raised in a christian environment, but being the realist I am, have always questioned creation. I think in scientific terms, and evolution just makes much more sense to me!! For me, god would be the incredible biological processes it took to create such a complex world that we live in. Not what church tells us. An individual (Jesus) creating all this just does not cut it in my mind!! Peace.
