this album can be summed up with one word that applies to the whole thing repititious. every song the guitars and bass plod through a heavier sound that actually seems like an afterthought for the song. the refrains are totally unoriginal and so so simple you could beat the brains out of a baboon and still have them perform better. you forget sombody is playing bass its like it is there just because it has to be. the drums sound like the kit was stolen from a 13 yearold who bought em in a pawnshop for $50. and kirk hammett where is the guitar? you hear it but it dosnt sound like him playing the last album in which the guitar came out sounding razor sharp was "and justice for all" this album is faster and harder but still manages to sound weak as if it wasnt rehearsed. the vocals are all hetfield but sound superimposed onto a mat of poor quality music. im sure they spent millions to make it sound that way when they could have recorded it in my garage for $200. i just wouldnt tell anybody they were there so i wouldnt be embarassed. jipped genes and son give this two thumbs down and two middle fingers up to a comeback album that will sell but dissapoint those of us who had faith that our fav band would actually devolve instead of evolve into a highschool rockband with weak lyrics and a generic sound that could only come from guys who forgot how to do it right. fuck metallica! peace

i am so pissed i dismissed all the bad reveiws luckily i got it for $9.99. but it is a waste of money. i am sick to my stomach they have said to all the old fans just wait we will make you proud they failed miserably. i truly beleive they are washed up.

Did you guys here that shit on the news that the U.S. is putting iraqui prisoners in a room and forcing them to listen to Metallica. I guess they can't take that shit. I heard later on mtv that Lars was all pissed off and offended. He would be.

thats awsome bro. its all opinion. stuff that sounds just like this new album can be found on any cheesy mid 80s grind core album. its been done, not alot of people listened to that stuff so metallica brought it back and repackaged it, but its still what it is tired licks put together with repeditive childish riffs that keep me waiting for something good to happen but never delivers. the only good thing is the metallica vault i downloaded a ton of live stuff although the quality is not that good i will enjoy that atleast. also the refrains on the songs where hetfield repeats the same cheesy line over and over, damn it makes me sick. where is the melody that even the hardest metallica song had and the complicated lead guitar and bass parts. this album seems to take all of the musician out of the music. every thing sounds so fabricated like they had a hollywood special effects crew come in and build a garage in their multimillion $ studio so they could get the garage sound instead of going to the garage and actually feeling the old stuff. angry sounding yes but its like a little shih tzu with a spiked collar biting your heels ferociously rather than a pit bull going for the jugular. i am furious. i love(d) metallica "and justice" back i waited for years for them to do somthing good this album is SHIT! i have to find a new fav band any suggestions? i like system of a down alot can they be my fav?

It is hard to follow up a masterpiece with another and another and another and another...Artists sometimes need to put some garbage out to clean out there systems. Lars is a good drummer, he invented the double bass but his opinions and sometimes cockiness makes him look bad.

load and reload were shit i think its about time to have a good one. good drummer yes!but have you heard the drums on the new album it sucks i have heard high school bands playing at party with better sounding drums i dont know much about drums but i think its called a tom or tam that sounds like shit. any drum people out there? but the drum lines dont mesh well with the rest of the music its like lars is doing his own thing.

well first off,the bass was kept simple for a reason. They did not have a bass player when they recorded yet, so Bob Rock (producer) filled in. They kept it simple out of respect for whomever was to take over as bass. If you listen to the DVD and hear how diffrent and better it sounds with Rob Truijilo on the bass. They did that so the new guy had room to add his style. Yes it sounds like a garage band, but thats what they wanted.....a raw sound!
