    While I agree that too many children are medicated and overdiagnosed....to say that ADHD is not a real disorder and it's the parents lack of discipline is ignorance.

    I have a 10-year old child with ADHD. Believe me...it's very real. I am a STRICT disciplinarian. Some have said way too strict. At one point, he had NO priveledges for 6 months. I am a firm believer in spanking, punishments, whatever it takes. At the age of 5 in kindergarten, my son was suspended off the school bus. He COULD NOT stay seated no matter how hard he tried. He had numerous problems in school also. His mother and I did not want to medicate. We went through 2 years of counselling and therapy with him before finally trying the medication. Well, since then, he has excelled in both school and sports.

    This is a sensitive topic for me. I now have full custody of my son and spend a shitload of time with him. Unless you have a child like this, you simply just don't know. I used to think the same thing before having my son. ADHD is real....VERY real.

      It sucks for those kids that had ADHD 3,000 years ago :p
