LM - start trying to relax about an hour sooner than you usually do before going to bed. Like a lot of people said it's habit. In your case, you need to veg out a little so you get some quality sleep. You're getting that in the early morning hours, rather than when you first nod off. You need at least six hours quality ZZZZZZ's to feel relaxed and refreshed.

LM, try this....this is what worked for me....when I had my school schedule adjusted, and I had to get up at 715, instead of 11 haha....

I set my alarm clock for 630.....and set it away from my bed....every time it went off, Id get up, hit the snooze...and hop back into bed....do that like 6-8 times, and by the 8th time, I was wide awake....

so u want to be to work by 7...I dont know how long your commute is and whatever else...but say you have to leave at 630, and start gettin ready by 600....set the alarm for 515, and go from there.....

its a crazy idea, but it worked for me.

          Ladiesman,

As most of the posts noted it is a habit. First thing you have to do with the present habit is to interupt it, break it in someway.

Of note, psychologically it takes 21 days to develope a habit.
So, first thing to know, is that you can do this, yet it will take several tries, and when you try and fail you will feel an emotional up and down, don't let that worry or upset you or get you down it is totally normal.

First thing to try is to change up your evening meal. Your eating clean and taking low glycemic carbs at around 9 - 9:30, which two hours later when you want to go to bed the insulin is packing your muscles doing it's job and giving you a burst of energy. Thus the mind racing when you go to bed, this also most likely leads to the grogginess in the am, in likelyhood you are falling into rem sleep way late, 4 or 5 am and not getting enough rem sleep.

For evening meal, try a steak with fat, and some quick high glycemic carb, corn or something, get your insulin working asap. Or you could even do your MRP their. Stay away from MRP with loads of calcium, that could keep you up, it is a mild thermo.

Also, an hour before bed try a whey shake with zma, zma is a nice relaxant, that should stop the mind from humming.

Also, it is tough, yet if you can get up early, after a few days, you will be dead ass tired around 10pm, and most likely fall into a good sleep.

If your mind is the type to race alot, it means you are highly attuned to excitement. And after working out you are pumped up and looking for action, ie, probably why you come to the board.

Getting up early, and their is silence in the house in the world and at work, does not make for alot of excitement.

When you get into work at 9, everyone is their and the day is just starting to hum, and your mind is more attuned to the hum and a high pace.

To change this type of stuff, you just logically have to accept the fact that after 10pm, nothing of any major importance happens. While you are attuned to the anticipation of something happening in reality nothing happens.

When getting up early, for it to be exciting for your taste you need to keep moving, ie, when you get up don't lallly gag, move move move. Get to work and don't daudle, like Scorpion says, their is a ton of work that can get done when no one is around.

I myself come in early and usually get more done in the first two hours than the rest of the day because their are no distractions, then the rest of the day for me is nice and relaxing.

If you make some of these changes don't expect immediate success, it will not happen and you will be disappointed.

Try and set up a goal like this week I will get in at 7 pm, three times. That's it that's the goal, nothing more. If you get their on time then you can experience all that good stuff you mentioned.

NOw if you don't achieve this for the week, start over next week, and after about 3-4 weeks if you can't do it. Just hang it up. Bottom line is while you might like to be in early, it's really not that important to you. Which is what your actions are saying overall anyways. So, free yourself from the guilt. You are doing nothing wrong by getting in at 9, you get your work done, you have a great day, etc. etc. etc. In essence 9 might be better for you than seven anyways.

Of course we never know if we don't try.

          Hoped That Helped
          Good Luck

I think this hit the nail on the head, my rem or good quality sleep is happening at 4 or 5am possibly even later like around 7am when my alarm goes off.....
