  • cable cross over

I was doing them today, getting a good stretch at end and holding at full extension and getting a great pump. After a few reps I felt a searing pain from my right bicep.
    Did I tear something?

Where was the pain exactly? Distal tendon region (elbow)? Shoulder region where the video connects? Directly on the muscle? Does it still hurt? Did it come and go quickly Any visible change or asymmetry compared to the other arm? Any weakness? As much detail as possible please.

      Re: cable cross over

It sounds as if you strained the bachii muscle in the upper arm, hopefully. That will heal in time. If you tore the distal tendon, your bicep will bulge(roll up) and have significant trouble with strength and will require surgery. Even a partial tear should be addresed with a trip to the doc, just to be safe. I partially tore a tendon and did nothing and it took two years to get strength back to normal. I still have issues from time to time. So...better to make sure because the longer you wait the more difficult to repair...if repair is needed.

But like gusto said, more details are needed as I am just giving scenarios based on prior experience in injuries.

What gusto n zoot said. If you get some bruising, thats not a good sign. Yes, if its deformed, its torn. You can still tear a tendon without a full rupture. If its still intact, it has a chance to heal by itself without surgery. The bicep long head tendon is supposedly the only tendon in the human body that you dont need. Mine is completely torn away from the bone and I never lost any strength but deformed as hell but I dont care

I've had this happen before. If you have zero other symptoms you might have strained or done something to a nerve. ...Hence the burning feeling. Any other symptoms and I'd take Zoots advise.

            Re: cable cross over

A complete tear of the distal bicep tendon won't come with much initial noticeable strength loss in the curling motion because you still have the brachialis muscle performing that function. Where you will have significant strength loss is supinating against resistance. But yes to me it sounds like you may have just strained something if the pain is directly over the bicep. I actually completely tore my tendon and I only had mild deformity because there was still some other piece of tissue that wasnt part of the the tendon keeping it from rolling up. There was a slight deformity and when I went to the doctor I could not supinate against resistance. Also most people don't do a whole lot of weight doing cable crossovers so it probably pretty unlikely that you actually tore a tendon.

Sorry about being so vague. No visable changes in the muscle and pain came on suddenly and left suddenly. The location was on the middle of bicep.
