  • Lisinopril and training

So my parent have two very opposite genetics when it came to the heart. My mothers side all athletic all the way up to professionals in sports...my dad all sedentary and heart issues. I've always had decent to high normal bp but always been very athletic...fast fwd a few years of massive stress, over working, kids, life, losses, oh ya more stress and not being able to be as "athletic" as before in my life I am now facing a very bad BP issue.

I've let it go for way to long and nearly had a bad incident. I'm now on lisinopril 20mg daily for the last month or so. I've only been on a HRT dose of test of 250mg/week for past 7 weeks (yes itching for my summer cycle). I have a stress test and a echocardiogram coming up in early June so waiting on any supplement additions.

All of that background to ask my brothers if anyone has experience with this BP medication. I seem to be handling it with no sides but when I train (reason for it being here) I feel as if I'm training harder than I am? Maybe a slight gasping for air feeling, I'm not sure 100% what feels off. The iron feels fine just something feels different. My lady whose a nurse practitioner says it's because my body was so used to high BP (even higher when we train and add a drum or preworkout).

Any thoughts along anything I've said?

I've been in lisinopril 10mg for two years now and I actually think I feel better when I take my meds. I've had a gap or two here and there where I didn't pick up my refill in a timely manner and again thought I felt better when I was taking it. I can't pinpoint what the better is, maybe it's just psychosomatic because I know I need it.

IMO most guys who do gear should use lisinopril to prevent cardiac remodeling. it can actually reverse "damage" done while on a cycle. I also recommend some sort of supp for stress. like super stress tabs. they give the body vitamins and supps like choline which help your body maintain homeostasis

I haven't seen it on this board but on others quite a few guys saying they use it on cycle.

Obviously mines prob going to be a lifer med but wanted to see how it affected everyone's training.

Have you used 20mg before? I was initially on 10 but cardiologist bumped my 10mg dose (my girl had me on) to 20, I would have assumed double the dose would have helped more in bringing my numbers down but only lowered it a little more.

I originally was prescribed 5 mg and that brought me down to 130/85 so he bumped it to 10 and I'm usually 130/80 now.

It is a good med and also helps your kidneys.
