  • Cardio: When is it Too Much?

does anyone know when your doing too much cardio, or if thats even possible?

heres a layout of what im currently doing and want to make sure its not impending on my muscles:
    1. 30 minutes fasted cardio 7:30am
    2. 30 minutes high intensity training following my regular lifting program geared to cutting. 2:30pm
    3. 30 minutes cardio 9:30pm

getting serious about burning that fat.

It's gonna make it hard to build much muscle with that much cardio as I'm assuming you are also in a calorie decreased state. But it shouldn't hurt your current muscle.

I don't think that's too much at all, I agree with EZ and that the second I step on the tread or eliptical is too much for me lol, and Mrs Juice I think woman can spend a whole lot more time on cardio then men and not have at least the mental issue of muscle wasting affect me.

As long as you are replacing your nutrients, electorlytes, etc etc you should be fine. That isn't an extreme cardio plan at all. For me I don't like fasting cardio, it has never worked for me and leaves me feeling depleted and unpumped all day. One thing to watch is eating more because your buring more may defeat your purpose so keep an eye on that diet, that is where the true "gain" against your fat attack will occur.

            Good luck bud.

I pretty sure 6p6 was saying keep an eye on your food intake because the cardio you do will stimulate your hunger more. Eat the same since our goal is to trim body fat.

the later, if you are fat burning just watch the hunger eating extra calorie issue that could defeat the purpose. You might find it more beneficial to cut back calories and do less cardio. Just something to toy with.

i figured you were saying not to eat more cuz using common sense that seems like it would defeat the purpose as you stated. sometimes though i may misunderstand someone and it turns out to be not what i simply interpreted them to be saying.

                        thanks for the feedback!

Re: Cardio: When is it Too Much?

my suggestion would be to take that fasting am cardio to 45minutes. Start at 7:15. You are just getting into the burning zone after 20 minutes. Then 10 minutes later you are done. Continue your post training cardio. Then walk outside at night if time permits. 9:30pm cardio is late to be cranking up the body.

Like the guys have said Nutrition is going to play a bigger role then cardio alone. If you have not learned to count calories and really know what you are taking in you wont win this battle. In short : Are you hungry alot of the time?
