  • I may actually cry. Any doctors in here?

Disclaimer/Fair warning: Details are kinda gross.

In january this year( I remember because it was my first day of school), I had what I thought was an ingrown-hair in between my belly button and pubic region. Turns out, it was a nasty staph infection that ended up becoming beyond painful and disgusting. Had to rush to urgent care and miss class. EMT buddy said I should go ASAP(so it obv. looked bad). Anyways, did a bunch a cephlex and something else to get rid of all possible infections. It went away after almost a month, left a nasty scar though.

    FAST FORWARD TO LAST WEEK;
Get a "zit" in my right nostril. IN THAT MOTHER ****ER. Anyways, blows my nose up, gives me mind-numbing headaches, and drains my energy. Finally, with tons of tinkering, it slowly bled/pussed out, coloring/viscosity/texture very similar to previously mentioned infection.

FAST FORWARD ONE MORE TIME TO NOW-ish:
Get an "in-grown" on my thigh, try to pop it or whatever, doesn't budge. Gets a little swollen, figure that it's a bug bite. This morning my Aunt mentions that it was probably a mosquito or whatever.
I give it some attention today and put some pressure on to try to relive some of the swelling. Skin is rock hard near the site-opening, again, very similar to my first infection. Some puss/blood came out, identical to last week and before; however, it's tough. The opening is nowhere near the size of my last infection, but here's the bad part. The swelling is bad, really bad. The major bruising/blood buildup is maybe a hair bigger than the size of a quarter. The spreading (lighter swelling) is at least 5 & 1/2 inches in swelling. It hurts enough to cringe while walking. The pain has multiplied throughout the day, and any contact stings. Trying to get into the doctor asap. I'm kinda scared actually- if staph fought the best antibiotics out in my body, that could be bad news, especially if it's the same infection making a comeback.
    Any opinions/thoughts/whatever are welcome.

P.s. My family blames it on excess protein/vitamins I take. (is the statement so full of bogus grandma-science, that it could possibly be true?)

That's looking like a bug bite of some sort. Protein won't do that.

I thought it was too, but big bites to cause 6 inch diamater swelling and cripple legs though. It's too intense for that.

when staph gets bad enough i believe it can morph into something called mersa or something to that effect. yes very painful! antibiotics should make it pull together and basically pop so the infection drains out (very disgusting and has a horrible smell) but when that doesn't work they actually have to lance it open in surgery. staph and mersa are caught very easily. public pools, hospitals, jails, are just a few places that stuff is easily caught. i would get it checked asap because the sooner you catch it the more likely meds will fix it.
everything said and done here is for entertainment purposes only. i don't even really workout i just pretend like i do so i can have big friends

                Update:
Either staph, mersa, or cellulitis for sure. Might have to rest a few days. Never thought I'd get upset over missing a gym day

The only way to find out exactly what it is, is to get to a doctor and have them drain it and do a culture. Mrsa is not somethibg to **** around with. I got a mrsa infection in my arm two years ago and could have lost my arm. Sulfameth is the only anti biotic that i know of that will cover staph.

MRSA and Staph are one of the same. MRSA infection - MayoClinic.com

The nasal region is a very common place for the staph to hang out and multiply. A swab of the nasal region is utilized to test for staph/mrsa.

For the longest time our inmates were diagnosed with "insect bites" when it was actually staph/mrsa infections.

When in doubt seek medical attention, most folks can fight it off with proper treatment.

So this is what they said, but what did they do? You ned attention asap as if it is anyone of theose, you do noyy want the infection to get to the bone or blood and cause sepsis. You need general bloodwork, imo, like a cbc and cmp. That WBC should be high if infection is present. You mat need more potent antibiotics through IV. I am by no means a doctor just a person who had experienced a deadly infection and also a hubby who speny 5 days in the hospital die to a cellulitis infection. Also, I would think you would need to see a psecialist of some sort beacuse if this is the same thing for the third time, there is most likely an underlying caues. Please keep us updated

Mrsa is a different strand of staph that is more resilient to antibiotics. It is the worse form of staph a person can get.

TRue but to test for it is quite simple so I am hoping they did this for him at the care center

From the pics it looks localized. The only way to tel 100% what it is, is to have a culture done. Bloodwork would most likely only reflect if the infection has gone systemic. From the pics it doesn't seem that that's the case. I've had mrsa before and thought I was going to loose my arm, it never went systemic. I did have a clise friend that had mrsa go systemic after knee surgery.. that wasn't good. He was on a iv for several months.
