Re: Traps Flared Side Lateral Raises

Summary: I did the Flare yesterday standing up and bent over. Did 2 sets standing up and then 2 more sets bent over. I moved more to the bent over position to get the traps more Flared. Def a diff kinda feeling, did not feel my lateral delt work at all, felt a wicked pinch in the upper rear trap area. This a.m. I feel some soreness at the inner most upper rear traps area. It could almost be one sore feeling at the back of my upper neck that's how close together the two points are. A lil soreness in my mid back but that could be normal since I was benching heavy yesterday and I am extra aware of things cuz this lift is new.

To do: If I am up to it after my normal routine for the day I will try it Prone and see if I feel it the same. I avoided blasting 4cc into each trap even tho they were on deck in my rotation. This is so nada interferes with this lift trial ya know. I will post again soon for those that are following. Late.

Re: Traps Flared Side Lateral Raises

Consider this the Personal Experience Disclaimer blah blah etc etc

At the end of my lift today I tried doing a the Flare Prone and it is just not happening. I stood up and gave it the Standing form another test drive and in order to get Flared my back would arch and I got that "I'm feeling it too much in my middle/lower spine" feeling you get when your form just isn't all there. Sooo, I did the Flare Bent Over. I tried 1 arm at a time, alternating, and both arms same time. Same time is def the way to go to keep a concrete Flare.

Today I did not feel as much pressure or stress on my neck. Maybe bc I did them yesterday, maybe I broke my cherry with this lift, maybe it's from the lifts I did today, maybe my neck will hurt later today, tonight, tomorrow, week from now ... who knows. The biggest hurtle for me doing the Bent Over Flare is keeping my back aligned correctly during the Flare. Of all the diff ways I tried doing it the Bent Over way was best but even this way my back alignment still needs some work if this will remain a regular lift for me.

The pros are I enjoy the feeling in my upper rear traps and an above average pump up. I cant say if it will be an effective gainer over the long term bc I havent done it long enough. The cons that will result with a complete dismissal of this lift is if there is unacceptable neck pain and if I can not find a suitable back alignment I am comfortable with while Flared.

Well that's all I have to say for now.

It's official, I am a glutton. Gave the Flare SLR another go prone on an incline bench. This time I concentrated more on pushing my shoulders back than flexing my traps which would bring my shoulders forward. Felt okay. In a few days I want to try this again except seated straight up with a back support.

Re: Traps Flared Side Lateral Raises

I went back for another lift tonight and tried the seated. It was nice. Gave me something to push my back and shoulders against to do this lift. When Bent Over/Prone it should be called a Flared Rear Delt Raise imo and when standing or seated a Flared Side Lateral Raise also imo. Anyway, I like the doing the Prone and Seated. I am going to stick with it and see if I can get some long term results without injury. Well that's all folks. Lift, and if you cant find the time, try harder. There will always be a way...

And no my back hurts. I wash my hands of this Flare crap. Want bigger traps, stick to the tried and true. Peace.
