Anyone have this occur once in awhile while doing dumbell presses. I think I've figured out I'm doing it getting the dumbells into position. I use heavy dumbells but nothing new weight wise in years. Been getting some strains that drive me nuts...just little nagging ones!

Re: Straining the bicep tendon during chest?
I get them from doing cleans sometimes. its prob from my biceps being tight/short from over working them. work on lengthening them to keep bis/tris in optimum length. if you're standing relaxed and letting your arm hang, elbow should be near straight. the more bent the elbows are, the shorter/tighter the biceps are and needs stretching. simply stretch them at the end of chest, delt, and bicep workout by holding a smith machine behind you with hands about shoulder width apart, and try to stretch the upper arm(at the shoulder joint) back and up relation to torso. do both pronated(palms up behind you) and supinated(palms down behind you).''you'll harvest what you've planted...''

Re: Straining the bicep tendon during chest?
Ive torn my triceps doing back, you need to warm up by doing some light cardion for 10-15 minutes then lite stretching after. ALso are you resting enough between workouts? Sometimes this can be a symptom of over training. How often do you train heavy? You may aslo want to do some type of traiing for explosive power to train those fibers - if you train slow and deliberate all the time, your muscles become weak when doing something fast and explosive- thats why bodybuilding training only is bad for power athletes like MMA or Football. Also do you cycle AAS? How long are your cycles?

Re: Straining the bicep tendon during chest?
I'm very in tune with my body so I don't think its over training. I do a lot of different training styles as my work requires me to be in "athletic shape" but also as strong as possible. I vary my training with slow and deliberate, explosive strength stuff, and crossfit real world style workouts. Been training for well over 20 years, this bicep issue is a new thing for me the past year...first it was my right bicep (healed now) and more recently the left...YES I USE AAS! I HRT test year round these days and fluctuate the doses and yes throw in cycles...

myos post,"holding a smith machine behind you with hands about shoulder width apart, and try to stretch the upper arm(at the shoulder joint) back and up relation to torso. do both pronated(palms up behind you) and supinated(palms down behind you). " ONCE WARM YOU SHOULD DO THIS BETWEEN BACK AND BIS WILL HELP BUILD FLEXIBILTY LIKE HE SAYS- THESE ARE AS REGULAR TO MY ROUTINE OF BACK AND BIS - IM SURE YOU ALWAYS STRETCH THE MUSCLE YOU WORK BETWEEN SETS

Re: Straining the bicep tendon during chest?
I got what your saying ketsugo, no offense taken at all. I know I'm not over trained also because recently my work has really cut into my workouts so I've missed more time than usual for me.
I've been paying closer attention to the bi stretches and it is helping already. You know how it is to get into a rush and not do enough of this stretching crap! Body seems to need more and more of it the older you get.
