  • Bumping up my workout next week!!

Well, I have been back in the gym now since October. I am pleased so far with my strength increase and the physical change in my shoulder and upper chest area. What I haven't noticed is any change in the fat around my midsection. I am sure this is all because I haven't been doing any cardio (duh). So, I have decided to resolve this problem starting next week. Starting Monday, I am going to get up and get to the gym at 5am and do cardio for an hour (unless I choose to go the HIIT route which is likely). Then I will get back home by 6:15 and go ahead with my daily routine which will include working out at our normal time of 6pm.

Do you guys think I will get over trained with this schedule? This is about the only time I can find to do cardio. I am planning on starting a HIIT program because I have read that really sheds the fat. What do you guys think about this schedule?

Yeah, I was thinking about just going 3 days a week at first because I think that is about all of the HIIT I could handle in a week.

Another thing, I was thinking about was running stairs at the hospital where I work. I don't know why this hasn't dawned on me before. I mean I have 10 floors of stairs I could do.

Ya, I think it sounds like a good plan. Plus running those stairs could really help. Even if you did one or two hard runs to the top per day. cardio doesnt have to take up hours of your time

CARDIO EVERY DAY IS FINE. bUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER TO GET YOUR HEART RATE UP SO ITS BURNING THE FAT. DONT JUST STAY AT 1 LEVEL AND DO 30 MINUTES YOU HAVE TO DO MORE LEVELS AND PUSH HARD. MIDESECTION FAT IS VERY HARD TO GET RID OF AND ITS GOING TO TAKE ALOT OF TIME TO REDUCE IT. DO YOU HAVE LOVE HANDLES IF SO THOSE ARE THE HARDEST TO LOSE AND ALOT OF TIMES PEOPLE NEED LIPO SUCTION TO GET RID OF THEM. TIME AND EXERCISE AND CARDIO AND HEALTHY EATING TN94Z WILL GET YOU THERE BUT IT TAKES TIME DUDE

Yeah, this is the main reason I want to do the HIIT....I have tried it and it definitely gets the heart rate up!!! I barely have love handles. They are not bad and I have no doubts that they will disappear when I lose fat. In all honesty, I can tell that my love handles have shrunk just from working out, so I just need to add the cardio. We will see. I will try it out and see what happens. I am patient as far as this goes, I just want to make sure I am doing all I can to get it done as quickly as possible. My diet is much better than it was. It's not spot on by any means, but I cut out sugars, eat 5 times a day, drink lots of water, have a descent pre and post workout nutrition...it's coming around! I am for sure learning. My upper chest area has really changed.

I've been seeing weight loss (15-20 lbs) so far and I've only been doing 35 minutes of cardio 6 days a week. Intensity is the key. If you are short on time, just do 35 mins of high intensity...

yes, the stairs at work are another great way to work it into your schedule.

Well, I have made it to the gym 2 days in a row at 5am. I am using this week to get back in the swing of doing it again. So I have been doing the elliptical for 45 minutes. My heart rate varies from 130-150. Is that high enough, too high, etc? Going by the machine for a 30 year old, the target heart rate it 123. Mine is usually higher than that though.
