I was thinking about starting HIIT to see if I can really get this fat off of me. I thought about going to the local football field and say jog a lap or two to get warmed up. Then sprint the entire length of the field. Jog back. Sprint the entire length, jog back...so on and so on. Would this work? I also thought about doing some stadiums like we used to in high school. I just wanted to know if this was the same thing. I thought you were supposed to like jog 60 seconds then sprint 30 seconds, etc....

if you sprinted the 100 yards and walked back you would be better off. You would have to be in incredible shape to sprint 100 yards and truly jog back and sprint another 100 yards. after 2-3 of those you would be done as the body had no time to rest. Sprint 100 walk back and go again do for 15-20 times should yield good results.

I think its the complete opposite. If done right you can keep your muscle or gain some IMO. Like when i was doing it in the pool, swim 50 meters hard then rest for 30 secs. repeat 20 times or so. my back got really strong. My legs also get stronger when doing sprints with a bit of a rest period. I also do stadiums using this method. you dont have to come to a walk, basically just slow down then explode again and repeat.

IVE KEPT MY MUSLCE DOING THESE TYPE OF SPRINTS IN MY MARTIAL ARTS CLASS.WE DONT SPRINT 100 YARDS BUT WE DO ALOT OF RUNNING AND SPRINTING AND I HAVENT LOST A THING IN SIZE. i'm just going by what works for me. articles are fine, until you implement what actually works for you. you more or less have to try it and see. it works for fuzzy nuts and brody, i'm just scared of losing muscle, so i do the low impact for 45 minutes to an hours 3-4 times a week.

I had started doing the elliptical 30-45 minutes until someone told me about this. Then I started reading about it. I actually have the book on it that a trainer let me borrow.
