  • few p90x questions

Hey guys im about to start doing p90x with a friend of mine. How heavy of dumbells are needed for this program. Also can you use resistance bands for most of the stuff(if you get heavy ones)? Do you really need the pushup handles? thanks guys i know there are a few of you on here who do this.

You don't want to get too heavy on the dumbbells because of the movements. I have used no more than 15lbs and smaller. You can use resistance bands on them. They always have one of the people showing you how to use the bands during the process. I have never used the pushup handles. They are just to get that extra range of motion.

If you have been working out then you will probably use heavier dumbbells...those were the ones I had started out with because I had not worked out in a LONG time. Horton uses up to 45lbs dumbbells on some things. That is something that you will just have to experiment with honestly.

The push up handles are for people that have wrist problems from putting there hands flat on the floor while doing push ups and also improves the range of motion. they helps a lot.

get the bars for sure, they also make a solid yoga block for yoga and x-stretch. i use up to 50s on some stuff but i could go heavier just dont have higher than 50s. I only use them for lawnmowers tho. you would be good with a couple bands, and like 20s, 25s, 30s and maybe 35s for like shoulder press.

once your endurance builds up you will be able to go a lot heavier. I go heavy on shoulder presses and back exercises, maybe up to 70 on one arm rows. push up bars are cheap and help a lot as well. I would use the bands as little as possible, they just dont work as well on many of the exercises.

I just started this program to mix it up a bit. I don't have the "instructions" I just have the workout DVD's.
How often do they recommend doing the Ab Ripper?
