  • Shoulder Injury

So I have shouler pain. It is not bad, but almost 2 months after I hurt it, there is no sign of it getting better. I have been resting it (mostly, except for when I use the elliptical machine), but with little change it is beginning to worry me.

I hurt it while sledding about a week after Christmas. I was pushing my daughter's sled because the slope was not very steep, and when I gave her that last push and let her go I slipped and landed on it with the arm extended "above" my head - I landed sideways on my armpit, if that makes sense. It hurt a little, but I didn't think too much of it because it was not too bad. But the pain is the same today as it was 2 months ago. It is especially sore if I sleep on the injured shoulder, or sometimes after I use the elliptical. The soreness seems to be primarily on the top and some toward the back, under my delts.

I was originally thinking a minor sprain in the shoulder, but I wonder if there is a bit of a tear now? Would it hurt a lot more if it was a partially torn cuff or something like that? Anyone ever experience something like this? If it doesn't feel better in a few more weeks I'l have to see my doctor I guess.

    Re: Shoulder Injury

Definitely sounds like a partially torn subscapularis or suprispinatious or both. You can get those things to heal, but it wont heal if it is being traumatized on a regular basis. Then it becomes fibrotic(scar tissue) from lack of oxygen and then can evolve to frozen shoulder, arthritis and chronic tendonitis/bursitis. Get it treated asap because it will develop scar tissue over time and you want to avoid that at all costs.

well, 2 months ago i hurt my shoulder snowboarding, very painful and slowly started to feel better. still is noticable today but i can work out fine and hardly notice it, i thought it was a torn rotator cuff or torn cartalidge, but i got my blood work and mri scan back yesterday and there is nothing wrong with it, so I dunno what to tell you, it could be anything, hard to tell with shoulder injuries
