  • Is it possible to go from hating exercise to craving it?

Once again... another blog from Yahoo's Shine, but I thought it prompt good questions for discussion. I realize that the this goes out to general public and we all not that we are a different breed from most people. However, think back to a day when you didn't exercise and compare that to today. Do you enjoy exercising? Did you like to exercising when you first started? Did you grow to like it? Do you crave it now?

I use to love to swim. I looked forward to my parents opening the pool every spring. It was my favorite way to exercise. As I got older I didn't have access to a pool all the time, so that changed. I did have trouble finding exercise that I enjoyed. Once I did, I loved it and yes, even craved it. Now... I struggle with tons of stress and a low carb diet and lately feeling a little burned out and unmotivated. Then again... overloaded with full-time job and two-part jobs I think has more to do with my lack of motivation than anything else.

Here's the blog and link if you interested:

Is it possible to go from hating exercise to craving it?

As I continue to go through the motions of the Lazy Waister's Triathlon, I keep wondering when the fitness fanaticism is going to kick in. Clearly, there are people out there who love to be active. Kim says she loves it, Anne says she enjoys it when she talks herself into participating and Kate seems to be fighting an uphill psychological battle just to be able to have fitness time without getting a bunch of fat hate talk at the gym. Meanwhile, I can honestly attest the thing going through my brain as I schlock my way around the neighborhood is never "Wheeeeeee! This is fun!" but more like "Is this a mile yet? What if I lied and said this is a mile? No, I can't do that. Meh, stupid morals. Aaaargh, dog poop! I hate the walking with the sweating and the bugs and the dog poop situation! Grumble grumble grumble."

I wonder if it will ever happen, this magical liking exercise thing? Maybe I'm a hopeless case? However, after I noticed that walking, swimming and cycling (the Triathlon Trifecta) are three of the six suggested activities that make you like exercising, maybe I just have to persevere? Or ask someone to give me a swift blow to the head. At least Jillian Michaels is in my corner.

Do you honestly enjoy fitness? Or only certain types of fitness? What are your tricks and tips? The comments section is dying for it.
