  • Time off/Rest time

I have read several different places, that taking time off from your workout regime is important.

My question, do you take time off? How much?

I've been hitting it hard 6days/week for the last 12 weeks. As much as I dislike the idea of taking a week off, I'm thinking it is probably beneficial.

    Thoughts?

    What do you do?

I think it's good to take it a little easier in the gym for a couple weeks. I don't think you would really loose much from 1 week off, but I don't think 1 week would help much either. I think a couple or 3 weeks of taking it a little lighter helps after a stretch of killing yourself with heavy hour-in-half workouts. Your body will tell you what to do.

I take time off regulary. It is very necassary for your CNS to recover. There are many ways to do this also. From a complete sit out for a week or deloading periods. Which I like.
IA has many good articles about this subject I strongly suggest reading some of them to better understand the needs and benifits of time off.

Like bowbow said, I like to "deload". To deload you don't just sit around but you do a lighter load or work some recovery methods and give your system a break. We all get burnt out from time to time after long periods of hittin it hard, and this is our body's way of tellin us to back off a little and give it some rest. The only time I'll actually take time off is when I'm sick or the last few days before a meet.
