  • What do you do for energy...

...while training. I have been running out of energy for a while now while I am training. Usually about 45 mins. in. My problem is I have blood sugar issues so I can't use most of the energy drinks or pre-workout supps. that work for most people. Any ideas?

    Not even Gatorade?

The next best thing would be to eat a meal with low glycemic index carbs about 2 hours before the gym. That would guarantee you of having enough blood sugar to get through the workout. That's always been the rule of thumb, slow converting carbs (low glycemic) before training or exercising, and fast converting (high glycemic) carbs after to replace the glycogen youlost during training.

yea, i know what you mean...if i dont eat some heavy carbs about 1.5-2hrs before a workout, i cant make it either. i dont have blood sugar issues, but i dont like too much sugar....there's got to be some of those drinks without sugar..i'm pretty sure of it

I've been using a CEE/taurine stack roughly 30 mins prior to working out and have noticed a moderate increase in 'natural energy' levels. I've weened off stimulant type products such as caffeine and ephedrine totally the past few months. I just don't like how they make me feel.

I add a scoop of CEE and taurine to my gatorade prior to my workout, taurine throughout my workout, and finally a CEE/taurine blend post-workout and it's working great.

Re: What do you do for energy...

What really helped me get through my workouts was to work out first thing in the morning at 6 or 7am before work instead of at night after working and school.....All I do is have a shake and maybe some type of complex carbs with a REDLINE and i'm good to go. It will take a few weeks to get used to, but I can honestly say that I've been having the best workouts ever and I think that is due to the fact that its the first thing I do and I can put the maximum amount of effort both physically and mentally since i'm fresh. Also, I would recommend waking up at least an hour before you plan to go because sometimes it takes a while to get going.....Also sleep is critical....if you're in bed later than 10:30 or 11 forget about waking up at 5 am......

A bump of B12 and (or) 8oz of NOX-CG3 works for me.

Thanks for the tips guys. I think I need to eat more prior to like T-man said. The thing about me is I can only eat low glycemic carbs for the most part. Most simple sugars mess me up pretty bad.

Try drinking coffee. That's what I do. Also try cardio before to get yourself going. I drag if I don't get myself into it, which makes me lift way less than I'm capable of.

I am unable to drink coffee or even worse sweet tea. I used to have a cup of black coffee prior to and it did wonders, but now that I am getting older I have become more sensitive to things.
