I used to use DBs all the time. Switched to BBs recently and really like it. I see so many people bouncing/throwing the DBs around rather than controlling it. I like the BBs because it works stablizer muscles. Find when I do switch it up and go back to DB can do more than I could before.

I think db's are great. For one thing you can get a better range of motion with them and really bring them down to get a good stretch. I had a messed up rotator cuff for awhile and didn't do any flat bench for about a year. It didn't seem to hurt my chest progress at all. Have you tried to do external rotations to strengthen your rotator cuffs? I did that and it took about a year to get to where I can use a barbell again.
