5x5 Routine

  • 5x5 Routine

    Who has done does routine before? How did you like it? How do these exercises look? Should I add or remove anything? Thanks!

    I plan on doing 3 days a week:

    Mon: BACK
    Lat Pull downs
    Bent over barbell rows
    Seat rows

    Wed: LEGS
    Squat
    Stiff leg Deadlifts
    Leg Extensions
    Calf raises

    Fri: Chest
    Flat bench
    Incline
    Decline
    flies
    NO PAIN, NO GAIN
    KNOW PAIN, KNOW GAIN

    It's a good routine but most people I know that have made good gains on it only did 5x5 on the main exercise like squat, dl, bench. I posted Brad Gillingham's 5x5 squat program in the powerlifting forum.

        I should also mention that Brad's goals and yours are different so I'd modify his training by replacing his assisstance work with your own but be careful not to overboard on volume, and you should prolly wear a belt on all of the squats too. Brad goes beltless on most squats for the sake of strengthening the core for better deadlifting and squatting.

          lol...Not to worry. I'm not going to attempt any of this guy's lifts. I'm way below those numbers that he is pushing. This first week I'm just going to try and set baseline pounds that I can do.
