  • Morning cardio..........

    Ok so Im going to start doing cardio in the morning some by walking briskly around my apt cpmplex for 35-45 minutes. Im going to be taking a whey shake and my fat burner as soon as I get up then throw some clothes on and go.

    My question is what about eating afterwards? I usually wake up 1st thing and have a Muscle Milk shake. Then wait an hour and have eggs and oatmeal.

    How long should I wait after cardio to eat and what should I eat?

    Thanks just trying to get this right!!!

    what i do is i wake up, make my eggs and set them aside so they are ready when i get back. i leave and get to the gym at 5:30, do cardio til about 5 or 10 after 6, get home, eat my eggs, a small granola bar and thats it. i would throw in a shake, but i don't have time....seriously, i don't have time. my gym opens at 5:30am, if they opened at 5, that would help me out big time.

      ^ how long does it take to make a shake bro? I just grab a shaker cup add 3 scoops of whey then pour in some cold water, screw on the top, shake and chug it. 1 minute tops.

        in the morning u always do cardio on an empty stomach and take ur fat burner/thermos burners, and wait 30 mns and hit cardio..why? coz when u wake up, ur metabolism is very fast, and usually dies down in the evening and once u finish up cardio, eat ur eggs and oatmeal

          its not that it takes too long crombie, i am just running around like a chicken with my head cut off, adding in that would drive me ****ing crazy,lol.

            If memory serves me correct the thermogenic afterburn is @ 2 hrs after your session. Obviosly decreasing its effect as time goes on. Eating is not a problem, eat correctly and you can boost that afterburn for a bit longer.


            I don't believe that there is any scientific proof to prove cardio in the morning on an empty stomach is any better than doing it with food in it (not full) eat correctly and your food will provide fuel for your session.

            It does work for some (obviously it does for mike) but does absolutely nothing for others...

              i take the thermos 2 boost my fat burner process and that is right regarding the 2 hrs process, and that is why i take thermos b4 and my clen and t3 2 hours after my cardio session..u are right.....

                The only science behind training on an empty stomach in the morning is that your glycogen levels are depleted (which is why too much sleep can be catabolic).

                The first 15min of cardio is just depleting your glycogen stores, after that it`s fat your burning. So doing cardio on an emply stomach would lower that 15min figure, how much would vary from person to person. If your large and have lots of muscle (like Mike) you might carry 20 min of glycogen. If your small and scrawny (like Crombie, he he) then you would certanly have less. This is because glycogen stores in the liver and muscle tissue.

                But you only burn about 10-15 cal per minute of cardio anyway so if your glycogen is depleted to 50 percent in the am that might only mean 70 additional calories burned, not a back breaker IMO.

                  Hell, i eat b4 cardio, lol! If i do cardio on an empty stomach im lethargic for the rest of the day.

                    You gotta figure that even if you eat before you do cardio, you still burn the calories that your body would have to deal with if you weren`t doing the cardio that your doing. So burning fat off of your body or burning the cals that would become fat... kinda the same thing when you average it out.
