i was wondering, my friend has two bulging discs and arthritis. anyway, they came over and tried my hyperextension bench and liked it. i was thinking of buying them one cause they said they'd like to have one. but someone told me that it wouldn't be good for their back. now, i was under the impression that strengthening your lower back would actually help to alleviate some of the pain. am i right here, or should they not do these?

Re: hyperextensions
I've got a straight hyperextension machine that is made by Body Solid and I only paid $199 for it. There was one for $150 but the padding was inadequate and hurt the thighs when using it so I opted for the pricier model. Just figured I shoot some prices out there for you.

Re: hyperextensions
45 degree hyper would work. I've got both the rev hyper and 45 and I use it all the time. I have bulging disks and bi lateral fractor at L5/S1. Just make sure they only come up to the point where their backs are at the 45 degree, don't over arch. Lots of reps and lots of abs. Hope this helps.
