Tell me on what your thoughts are on this piece of equipment that i am looking to buy. I currently work out at home and love to work out at home, so keep that in mind. I currently have a bench that inclines and declines, with a heck of a lot of free weights, and also have a separate preacher curl aswell. Lookin to get this and was wondering if anyone had any experience or thoughts. And i currently use free weights for doing all my excercises....but was wondering how a smith machine would compare to free weights when workin out on chest? Cus i know i could handle more weight with the smith machine but would it matter? Thanks guys!

Re: SM 4000 Smith/Cage Combo Critique!
Ive got a smith, and I absolutely love it!
Its a Hoist, and you can see it here: http://www.homefitnessdirect.co.uk/p...0Down%20Option
We also have an extra bench and dumbells from 3-50 lbs. were looking to get dumbells up to 100lbs soon as well.
The smith is great, it lets me work out whenever I want. I can do it at night, which is when I prefer to do it, and I dont have to use my schools crappy equipment.
The two main differences I've noticed is that, number one, my gains are much larger on the smith which Im attrubuting to the fact that its just more weight Im pushing.
Also, whenever I do go in for a morning workout at school, I find it difficult to keep the weight smooth going up and down. Im assuming thats because im used to the bars keeping straight, and I dont have to use that extra muscle to keep it in line.
Hope that helped!

HEY POLISH PRINCE...I LOOKED AT THAT EXACT MACHINE AT DUNHAMS SPORTS FOR 499. I THINK IT'S A GOOD MACHINE. I CURRENTLY USE AN OLDER SMITH THAT I'M GETTING READY TO UPGRADE. I TOO WORKOUT AT HOME AND HAVE BASICLY THE SAME SETUP AS YOU. I DO HAVE A SMITH AND USE IT EVERYOTHER WORKOUT...IT'S A GOOD INVESTMENT FOR YOUR HOME GYM IMO.HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!

Ya daved150....i am getting it from Dunham's aswell....for $499 aswell. I live in Canada but will just make a border run to Port Huron, Michigan to pick it up. It looks like a really good deal to pass up on. The only crappy thing is that i will have to buy more weights to fit the olympic size bar thats all. Going to get it on thursday actually.....can't wait to put it together,,,thats the most thrilling part for me!!
