  • Decline bench who does them?

Who does decline bench presses? Im thinking off throwing them in my next chest routine, Ive done them in the past but I remember it being an akward position for me so I never got big into doing them but I think Im gonna give them a try next time. What weight do you guys lift on decline in comparison to flat and incline? What grip do you find best for declines (width of grip)? Do you think it isolates your pecs more or works the lower part of the pecs more like I had a friend telling me?

I DO THEM... IS START OUT WARMING UP WITH 135 FOR A FEW AND THEN PUT ON 185 AND DO THEM TILL FAILURE, THEN DO 225 TILL FAILURE, THEN 245 TO FAILURE. THEN REST AND TRY TO SQUEESE OUT 3 PLATES AS MANY AS I CAN AT 315. THE NEXT TIME I DO IT BACKWARDSWARM UP THEM GO HEAVY BACK DOWN.

BE CAREFUL WITH THE CHICKS INTHE GYM WHEN YOUR WARMING UP WITH THE 135...YOU LOOK CRAZY WEAK DOING THAT!

dont really do declines, i do take my bench down just a notch. if i go down more, it feels real akwards! i use a pretty wide grip for all presses and the last time i did them (been working on upper chest for awhile) i was pyramiding up to 285

I love declines! The angle really helps fill out the middle and lower chest for me. You should be able to lift more on the decline. Anatomically you are strongest in this position.

I love declines- really helps me for focusing on the chest and leaving the shoulders out of the equation, and I can do more weight decline than flat or incline

WHEN I DID USE IT I USED THE HAMMER STRENGTH DECLINE

I like declines... I love all big compund movements... I belive u should just use the same grip as you would reg bench.. I dont see how it would fill out a certain area of your chest though? it does work well

I used to but not too often anymore. I do flat bp, incline dbell press and incline dbell flys.

once in a blue moon to switch things up.

I dont have a spoter so i stick to dB's, smith machine presses, and my gyms shitty version of hammer strength.

i never do them. never had a problem getting my lower chest to grow... it's the upper portion that always seems to be trying to keep up!

i have been told by a few pros that if you already do flat bench then decline is a waste of time. its pretty much the same thing...

i think i may try the decline dumbells, being in that position it would give me better control of the weight.
