ive been lifting for about 4 years on and off. the reason its been on and off is because of injuries. every few months i will either tear or pull something in my chest. its kind of hard to describe the pain. i fell the pain when im just standing or lying down. if i try to stretch my chest i dont feel any pain. my doc has no idea what it is. anybody ever had a similar pain? how do i tell the difference between a tear and a pull? thanks.

I've tore my rotator cuff and let me tell you, you will definately know you tore something when you do. I've also pulled various muscles...and there is an obvious difference in comfortablitity. If playing a sport you can still go on to a varying degree but if you tear something you will be out indefinately.
I suggest going to see a physiotherapist if you doctor isn't able to help diagnose your problem.
