I was needing some help with my bench press. I am reaching a peak as far as max bench press goes. I weigh 170 and maxing 250 or so. My problem is i have great explosiveness off my chest( get the bar of my chest a good 4-5 inches) but i cant push through the weight(or fully extend my arms to the top). This happens at weght higher than 240 or so. I figure it is prolly lack of strength in my triceps. What can i do to help me push through this heavier weight? What excersizes? ect? Thanks

I would guess some weighted dips. Regualr dips helped my strength when I was having trouble increasing my strength. Hey nonuts me and you weigh the same and lift the same, pretty cool"I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a sacrifice -- the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask"?

Two words----rack lockouts...Put a bench under the power rack, set the pin to where youre pressing for less than 8 inches, and load it up. This helps alot. Also, the weighted dips help w/ the shoulder and back stabilizers. Really, cut your chest work in half, and double your tricep work and add more rest time. You should really see a good gain. We (lifters) are notorious for overtraining chest, I think. So, if you want a bigger bench, leave out the declines, inclines, dumbbell presses--all that you can rotate in---just pick 1 or 2 presses a workout and cut the rest.. Less is more

kinda off the subject but make sure your not one of those guys that always bounce teh wieght off your chest....i have found that sometimes i wasnt really doing all of the work i was being helped at lest a lill by the rebound from my chest....if this is you, try stoping the weight 1 inch above you chest then push ...this will also help catch up the rest of your arms ..if you find that you werent able to push as much youll know y. try not to get that split second of rest by bouncing. plus you could hurt yourself....if this is not the way you do it maybe it will help someone else.Stuck in the Desert.

Just seeing how awake you guys are. Personally, ive never done more than 405, but dont care to do more or try more. The guys repping otu with 405 have chests of 7 year olds. Im fine with my 365 goign slow and controlled, I look 10x better than them. Im trying to say who cares what your max is? At 170 that isnt bad at all, wait until your whole body grows, so you dont stress out your joints trying to He-man up 275.

3-5 board presses
Floor presses
JM presses
Rack lockouts
All close grip BTW
Forget about dips and all the other silly tricep exersizes...I guess maybe skull crushers..but I still wouldnt even do them..stick with them main exersizes above and fo balls to the wall...1-3 reps max with very heavy weight...
Thats WSBC style at leastWorked more than great for me!
