Interesting. I have a hard time accepting that ph plays no role, although it would make sense because body ph doesn't vary all that much.
Do you have any studies I can read? Typing phosphate into medline is gonna give me 2 billion results.

I was pretty sure it was found that lactic acid is vital for muscle growth

A good post by Nandi on Lactic Acid, basically you want to find a balance:

Lactate buildup impairs performance. That is why people try to reduce lactate levels. Lactate itself is not bad, in fact it is key to providing a continued supply of glucose to muscles that are working under anerobic conditions. Things get bad when lactate accumulates faster than it disappears. The blood becomes acidic and this interferes with muscle contraction.

Athletes try to increase their "lactate threshold" by intense training. Or buffer their blood to reduce acidity.

Lactate may stimulate GH secretion, and it may not. There have been a lot of studies of GH secretion as a function of exercise intensity, as well as GH secretion when muscles work under hypoxic (low oxygen) conditions. In these studies, GH levels CORRELATE with lactate levels. But GH also correlates with other things as well, in particular norepinephrine levels. So it is not known if it is the lactate, or norepinephrine, or epinephrine, or possibly opiates, GABA or maybe something else. Or a combination of a number of things that all contribute.

The potential problem with raising lactate levels is that GH release correlates strongly with intensity of exercise (1). If you lower the difference between intensity level of your exercise and lactate threshold by raising lactate, you reach failure sooner than you would otherwise and may not be able to maximize GH.

What is interesting is that, as mentioned, hypoxia is a powerful stimulus for GH release. There have been studies where a tourniquet was applied around a limb, and then the limb was exercised lightly. The GH levels rose much more that without the tourniquet. So if you were unable to train an arm or leg heavy for some reason, like due to an injury of if you were old and decrepit, you could do curls with the little blue dumbells and still get a big GH boost if you wore a tourniquet (2).

Although fina pellets are legal, anythign to draw more attention to the board from authorities is not good. You can make meth from legal supplies, but........I wouldnt want to see anyone selling those supplies on the classifieds

Thats how I've been told it works, but high level of exercise will cause the buildup of phosphates like bulldog said.
I wonder how acidic the blood actually becomes?
I'll have to check out the studies when he posts them.

it's nice to get so many responses, i didn't think that i would have gotten that many ven though we strayed a bit.
Mods: keep your arguments away from my thread.k/j i don't want to get banned

anyway though, there are a lot of people i know that take antacids and swear that they work, but then again so does placebo. i'm trying to research this a little more and maybe i will get an undisputed answer.
