sterile oil - possible to make it yourself?

Great replies, thanks! Which oils are thin? The problem is that I would have to sterilize around 300 ml of oil in one sitting and that would be very very slow and painful thru a .20 micron filter.

I am already planning an apparatus where the syringe-needle-filter-vial combination is clamped on a workbench and a weight is placed on the syringe's plunger thus pressing it down. Maybe it works, maybe not, if I'm crazy enough to try it, I'll post pics exclusively on this thread

I like to use sesame oil, cottonseed oil is good too.

As I said, I can't afford to order anything suspicious, these filters are such items, but this supplier works inside the EU (European Union), which means that it would be safe to order from him.

By the way, if anyone knows of a european source for sterile oil, that would solve my problem... It's just that if I order anything from outside of EU, it will be flagged and sent to my local customs office. But inside EU, everything will come thru fine.

I would go with the 25mm 0.2 micron nylon or PTFE filters. The cellulose or cellulose acetate filters will not stand up to the high conc. of BB and/or BA in finished gear solutions. They may not even handle straight oil.

Where do you get your cottonseed oil? I have considered using it but couldn't find any easily so I went with sesame instead.

you can also buy it at grocery stores. usually in specialty food sections.
