What are the potential risks associated with accidentally injecting a piece stopper from a vial. The thought of it scares the shit out of me cause I don't really know what it would do. I always notice that towards the end of my fina and prop, the stopper's from the vials are pretty much shredded and there are little floaters in the oil. Hell, if it would waste so much gear I would start drawing my injections up through a whatman. Just wanted to hear your opinions on this one. Thanks.
You would probally get the biggest knot on your ass that you have ever seen... infection would be horrible, and you would probally have to have surgery to get an abcess removed..
I figured that it would be something along those lines. The thing that worries me is that some of the pieces are so small that I can hardly see them. I guess I'll just have to be extra sure that I don't draw any of them up.
I dont think it would cause an abcess, it could though, more than likely youll get plenty of scar tissue, as the body will encapsulate the foreign substance.

What he said. In order for it to cause an abscess, it would have to be "dirty". If it is sterile, there aren't any bacteria around to cause an infection or abscess. It will just get incapsulated in scar tissue.

so a piece of rubber stopper 1.5" deep in your muscle would not cause a abcess

Not if it is sterile. Abscesses are caused by bacteria, not foreign matter. The body's defense against foreign matter under the skin or in a muscle or anywhere else is to encapsulate in scar tissue and isolate the offending irritant.

I agree, I had to do this. I also divided my 6g fina kit into two different vials, so when the first stopper starts to desinigrate, i am finnishing up that vial.

Well, I've noticed the same thing happening before, so I did switch to a 20g, but the same thing is still happening. Now these filter needles that you speak of, not like whatmans or what? I have some extra whatmans lying around, but for the amount of gear left in there, it would be a total waste. I'd end up losing just about all of it in the filter so it wouldn't be worth it.
