  • Kinda O/T, split sameday shock wrkout?

I'm trying to increase my back width and thickness as one of my main priorities right now, and it's always been hard to make my back sore. Calves and forearms I'm working twice per week b/c they're small muscle groups and need to be brought up also. However, I remember that the few times I've gotten my back *really* sore( that soreness you can just tell is going to lead to some growth), it was by doing a heavy low-rep back workout in the am, taking a nap, then coming back in the afternoon to hit it from different angles with higher reps. Since I have a weight-training class that meets on my back day, I was wondering if you guys think it would be overtraining to do these 2 a day back workouts maybe once or twice a month to shock my back into growing? I'll obviously be on gear, but I'm cutting, so I'm hoping that with enough protein I won't lose any muscle, and the extra calorie expenditure can't hurt either, since I'm doing no cardio. If you guys think it's too much, or you like it, want to tweak it, etc., please let me know. I can't help but want to train 2x per day here, the gym we meet at is actually called "The Dungeon"

Possibly doing it every three days may work. What I mean is thickness movements on monday(rows of all kinds, and dealifts) and width movements on thursday (all different kind of pullup, pulldowns, straight arm rows, etc) But, I would hit it hard in one session IMO. DB pullovers are great for adding mass. Make sure you include deads too.

Remeber, soreness and pump are not a good indicator of growth.

I know they typically aren't, and I've still grown in back strength and size. However, I usually get a nice spurt of both after one of those 2 x day workouts. I've tried hitting it 2x per week like Ronnie does, heavy day and light day, but that didn't work for some reason. I do deads every week, heavy as shit, my low back is very thick, it's my upper back that doesn't impress. Thanks for the ideas though, Pro, I'll probably include db pullovers, though I already do machine pullovers on the pulldown machine. I'll sub them out for db ones maybe Anyone else?
