Back From Cancun with Report

Just wanted to let everyone know of my experience in the airport yesterday. I took the warnings ya'll gave before leaving so I didnt go overboard just some clen tabs. I made my purchases very south of Cancun... prices were much better and no questions were asked. Coming back into the US was a scare though. We were chosen for search by customs.... WHAT A JOKE! just keep cool. They X-rayed our checked bags and just asked us what we had in the carry-ons. My purchases were in the carry-ons, uhh nothing but some soveniers and a bottle of tequila officer. They did not open one bag! Maybe we got lucky... but it was not tough what so ever. 5 other people we went with didnt even get searched. This all occurred in a NYC area airport. I think the security here maybe some of the toughest. Anyway hope this helps any who were wondering.

I got a villa for the week at the mayan palace and roundtrip air for about $450 pp from NY, we were a group of 4. I really didnt like Cancun all that much... to commercialized. My favorite place was Playa de Carmen.

playacar is great, not quite as touristy, but a lot of expat americans in various neighborhoods, etc.

At least you made it back safely. I can only assume that you went through JFK, and them not breaking out the gloves and the flashlight is kind of shocking, but lemme just tell you from expierence that it all depends on the mood they are in, dont take this one time you got through as how they generally are with stuff. First time I made it through, I had a bunch of shit, and they let me through the same way, barely a second look...other trips I thankfully didnt have anything as they went carzy looking

my buddy got back from mexico city on business a coup[le of weeks ago and they gave him grief about bringing mexican over the counter drugs back like tagamet for heart burn it cost a quarter of what it costs here. they let him go but wasted 40 minutes of his time.

I think it is hit and miss. Depends on the mood of the airport security. Too bad this time you werent loaded up with 200000 ml of gear. Next time you might have 1 vicadin and catch grief.
