Human growth hormone was awarded the Best Performance Enhancing Drug ESPY on Wednesday night, besting the other nominees—Deca Durabolin, Androstendione, Winstrol and Erythropoietin.
"First of all, I'd like to thank the athletes that have chosen to use human growth hormone as their performance enhancing drug of choice. Without you, this award wouldn't be possible," said Dr. Anthony Galea, a Canadian doctor implicated in the distribution of PEDs to high-profile American athletes, as he accepted the award on behalf of the entire HGH industry. "And I'd like to thank the fans for understanding that human growth hormone is far superior to designer steroids. Until a more reliable and valid urine test is developed to recognize the presence of HGH, we will be here to stay!"
Galea proudly held the award skyward as music played him off stage, before being taken into custody by law enforcement officials to begin serving the 12 to 18 month prison sentence he accepted as part of a plea deal for smuggling HGH into the United States.
