Never even heard Amoxicillin being used to treat acne....Acutane yes, but isnt Amoxicillin an antibiotic for viral infections?

Not sure...I've heard rumors antibiotics can lessen the effects of oral steroids by killing off a bacteria normally present which circulates them throughout the body. If this is true, I don't know to what degree. It could be a minute effect which could be compensated for with slightly higher intake. I don't think it's been scientifically proven, but I could be wrong. I'm not quite sure if it applies to injectables as well.

As for the safety of combining the steroids and amoxycillin, I highly doubt there would be a problem, however I could be wrong. It would be best to check the contraindications with a pharmacist or reference it yourself.

I take it you have gotten acne on previous cycles pretty badly having had little luck with topicals?

If this is not the case, I would try to get away with some topicals. Benzamycin works wonders for me. You could try clindamycin, differin gel, etc. A good facial cleanser, twice daily showers, tanning, and maybe some B5 supplementation would help as well.

it will slightly lessen the effects of oral steroids but it wont be that big of deal - personally amoxocillan is not at the top of my list for the treatment of acne - i would try tetracyclene if you must but thats just MO i agree with Hehateme on the topicals and b5. But there is really no big problem with taking antibiotics and steroids.

It will work well to combat acne for some people and not at all for others, but there really is no danger in mixing it with steroids. This is assuming that you are not allergic to Amoxicillin.

Also, contrary to popular belief, antibiotics will not hinder gains.

No, they really don’t, not clinically or anecdotally.

People hear that they inhibit protein synthesis and assume that that means muscle growth; it does not.

re: acne... topicals don't do $h!t for me as my case is sporatically severe been through the common orals like accutane, minocycline, tetracycline, etc... just happened to get my hands on some amoxi from g/f. she takes it for acne and has none, so i thought i would give it a try. currently not taking any orals so i'm not worried there. i was also thinking it might ehlp against infection from the injection sites (if any). perhaps it will help any abcess' from forming? what are your thoughts on preventing an abcess with amoxi?
