Well depending on your muscle and body fat, I always use a 23 gauge 11/2" for glute. Fact is the glutes have alot of subliminal and fatty tissue, (this is why doctors love to give shots here), I heard one person said that even shooting from the side with a short pin you aren't guaranteed to hit the muscle everytime (again depending on your body fat). I always use a 11/2" pin when injecting into the glutes, remember most AS should be injected into the muscle. I use 1" for all other areas however, but I guess it is what best suits you.

23G 1.5" on the Quads and Glutes..............1" on everything else.
