  • controlled delivery

If a package was being delivered domestically through a private carrier like FedEx, UPS, et al, how could you get a controlled delivery? I would think the only 2 ways would be

    1) your address is flagged and the feds intercept your package (via the homeland security act and the govt's unfettered access to commercial data from private industry)

    2) The private carrier rips open your package, discovers the contents, and contacts the authorities

Does anyone know the law for domestic mail via a private carrier and the govt's juristiction? I heard that only the state has juristiction in this hypothetical circumstance

Also, how is underground gear labeled? It wouldn't have its true contents labeled, would it, in case it was found by big brother?

Yes underground gear will have its contents labeled.

If the packaging is good, I doubt UPS or FedEx would even find the gold. The postmaster, on the other hand....

Adpats is correct, for a mail carrier or any one for that matter, would actually need a search warranty to open USPS packages. Unless they were International, then customs can do whatever they want to your shit..
Domestically USPS Fed's DEA, etc have to have a search warrant to open pack.

UPS or FEDEX is not going to open your package unless your addy is flagged or it is leaking.....the almighty dollar is key...opening the package and searching the packages only slows down effectiveness and hurts production....thus...most things get passed unless broken. i cant recall any one that i know of or heard of that has gotten busted by a private carrier...take it how u want...my personal opinion would b to use a private carrier...

It was UPS that tipped off the feds about the shipment of weapons to the Branch Davidians in Waco.

Solid points, well taken. I guess in the end a clean house is the safest delivery method. Now if only I could remember that tree stump where I stashed my gear...

controlled deliveries are normally done with a law enforcement delivery. which is why i never answer the door. leave it at my door. if they went through enough trouble to use electronics to determine when the package was opened, then im fucked
