well i answered my own Q. this is from musclemonthy.com by Pat Arnold
Supplement that Supposedly Raises Testosterone
Mr. Arnold,
I am currently taking a herbal combo product that supposedly raises endogenous hormone levels. The product contains:
Tribulis Terrestris
FGP
Avena Sativa
Saw Palmetto Berry Extract
Calcium
Phosphorus
What are your opinions of this product, and is it indeed promising as a testosterone booster?
Tribulus Terrestris has never been shown, except for one dubious unpublished study by the bulgarian manufacturer, to raise testosterone. And I have known several places that have stated they were doing studies on TT. Funny thing is, I never did hear of the results, except for one, and in that one they did not find any effects on testosterone TT may have effects on neurotransmission in the brain (much more likely) that effect energy levels and libido.
FGP is ipriflavone. Ipriflavone has been proven to have no effect on sex hormone levels. So its inclusion in this product makes no sense whatsoever.
Avena Sativa is green oats. There were some people claiming a few years ago that this stuff raised free testosterone. I’m not aware of any valid research concerning this
Saw Palmetto is an effective treatment for enlarged prostrate, but has anti-androgenic properties. Therefore, it probably should be avoided unless you really feel a need for it.
Calcium and Phosphorous build big strong bones, but I do not know why anyone would expect an effect from them on testosterone production.
