  • My vials have the rubber stopper melting!!

I have two vials that I have had for some time and the rubber stoppers have melted and parts have fell off. THere are tiny lil particles in the vial and know that I cant inject incase thsoe particles get inside could cause some serious side effets. How can I save these. Should I use a whatman filter or syringe filter??? or is it too risky and just throw them out?? I am not sure what to do and dont want to waste two vials of gear.

You can try to refilter it to see if that catches all the extra particles. why did the rubber stoppers melt

I think becasue they were laying on their side for such a long time instead of straight up like they should have been keeping the fluid away from the rubber. The filter would catch all the particles Im just worried if the rubber dissolved so much that it became part of the fluid and that would be injected making me very sick. Kinda like injecting liquid form of rubber into the muscle.

the rubber shouldn't have melted because the liquid was touching it. sounds like the vials are really old or you stored them in temps above normal or exposed them to lots of direct sunlight?

How long were they laid over?
I guess the alcohol starts to disolve that rubber after so long.

They were not in direct sunlight but maybe high temps becasue they were ina lock box in storage. They must have gotten shifted around and ended up on their side when moving. I think the Alcohol started to dissolve the rubber. I just need to know if after filtering it if it would be ok to still use. I am thinking it would cause an infection or an abcess in worst case cenario.
