Long acting esters don't matter.
For short acting esters, I inject a few hours before my workout. And I also inject in a muscle that I am not working out that day. For example, if I'm doing upper body stuff, then I'll inject in my glute, quad, or calf. I do this because sometimes I get some minor post-injection sorenes.
