when i decided i needed to loose weight and started working out, i gave up drinking completly. i went about a yr and a half , 2 yrs without touching a drop! i started having a beer or 2 (litterly) here or there a ouple summers ago...it just dosnt matter to me weather i do or dont anymore. my life used to revolve around it
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!
I drink on the weekends like a **** fish and haven't noticed any probs. Blood work is always fine and I don't see any negative effects on my training. I'm sure it's doin something but until it interferes with my training or health I ain't worried about it.
I never though drinking was that big a deal until recently. I drank a rum and coke everynight and occaisionally would go out and get drunk. I have had a lot of trouble in the past 6 months or so putting on weight until I quit drinking. One month later now I feel like Im on cycle. My test levels must of dropped so much that I couldnt gain weight. The past two weeks I've really felt like my old self again and have avtually gained 6lbs! I'll never go back to drinking like that again it was shocking to me.
JUST A BEER HERE AND THERE...DOESN'T AFFECT ME AT ALL.. UR A POOOC IF U DON'T DRINK ONCE IN A WHILE...NO MATTER WHATT
sorry bro... but i dont agree with you on this one, alcohol almost ruined my marriage, and i just got married less than a year ago. phuk that, i dont feel like a puss cause i dont have a drink in my hand, im totally cool without it. when i dont drink i turn to my other friends, you know, im sure you have hung out with them too, Deca, and Test. Sometimes dbol, but i feel bloated when im around them.
I graduated college and then the **** i pulled there wasnt really socially acceptable in the real world. my circle of friends changed and i got out of that lifestyle.
Taken from Squidoo directly:
"1) It negatively affects protein synthesis.
Protein synthesis is the process where amino acids are joined together to form complete proteins. Excessive alcohol consumption slows this process down by up to 20%, and since your muscles are made up of protein, you can see how this is a problem.
2) It lowers testosterone levels and increases estrogen.
Testosterone is the most important muscle-building hormone in your body. One of the limiting factors that determines how much muscle a person can gain is their level of free-flowing testosterone.
3) It causes dehydration.
The kidneys must filter very large amounts of water in order to break down the alcohol, and this can result in severe dehydration within the body. Water plays an absolutely crucial role in the muscle-building process, and being even slightly dehydrated is a recipe for disaster. The muscles alone are comprised of 70% water.
4) It depletes the body of vitamins and minerals.
Alcohol consumption causes vitamins A, C, the B's, calcium, zinc and phosphorus to all be drained at rapid rates. Vitamins and minerals keep every little process in your body functioning properly, and many of these processes involve muscle growth and maintenance.
5) It increases fat storage.
With 7 empty calories per gram, alcohol can actually be quite fattening. Alcohol also disrupts the Kreb's Cycle, which plays an important role in fat burning."
but....... since being sober it is a lot harder to get ***** and talk to ppl that if u were fukked up it would come easy, i went out tonight with a close buddy who also is about 8years sober and man........... i fight it so hard not ordering a beer, it hurts but i know if i let my disease take over ill die, plus it helps me to stay healthier and better in the gym!!!!
^ I think it depends on the kind of person you are... im normally out going and talk to people... so alcohol does not make me more social it makes me reckless, i do stupid ****, make bad decisions, or hurt people.
