The best way to calculate water need is to take half your weight in ounces as the base. Then, if you live in a dry climate, you increase your base. If you live at high altitude, you increase your base. If you eat high protein, you increase your base. If you take a lot of supps, you increase your base.

I weigh about 250, so that's 125 ounces right there. I live in Colorado at 6,600 feet above sea level, so that's more I need. Colorado is very dry, so I need even more and so on.

I try to get AT LEAST one gallon of water a day on top of all my other drinks. I do not count coffee or tea into my equation, that is just extra. Even at one gallon, I'm pushing the minimum with all the other factors, which is why I don't count the water in tea and coffee. I drink tea, coffee and diet sodas also but that's on top of the gallon of water. I know when I don't get enough water, I feel dehydrated. Also, when I don't get enough water I feel it in my kidneys, but if I hydrate really well, no probs.

I've heard of creatine being tough on the kidneys when you are not well hydrated so I agree with you. That plus high protein, that's a sure way to stress them out.

Absolutely, I have so many BB friends that run into this because of lack of water or just liquids in general. It can lead to all sorts of other problems not just with the kidneys but starting with the kidneys...I bet you'd be surprised by the change if you just double your water intake...

Just a side note, recently had a bro with kidney stones and the doctor said just to consume ANY liquid and a lot of it. He said the coffee and diet sodas and junk with mild diuretics weren't enough to displace the liquid. Doctor told him just to triple his liquid consumption anyway he could.

defintely get the water in there as others have said, but also realize that the ECA stack can affect the kidneys as well. i would drop it for a while.

Coffee dehydrates so no that isn't a good intake of water. Water is the only good intake of water.

I hear what you are saying but from personal expereince, I can drink tea and soda all day long and never feel as hydrated as when I get enough water. But, with a kidney stone, that's probably a whole different animal that just trying to be hydrated.

creatine and NO2 consist of nitrogen, and the kidneys are involved in ridding the body of excess nitrogen. plus your taking ECA which have diuretic properties.

I would think if you dropped em and got rechecked they would fall within normal.
