I'm going to take the opposite position on this one. Aspirin "thins" your blood by making platelets less "sticky". Thus, you are less likely to develop microscopic clots which can clog smaller arteries (like those in the brain and the heart). So it is useful in preventing heart attacks and strokes. However, it has never been shown to lower blood pressure. In fact, at higher doses it can increase blood pressure by interfering with the kidneys regulatory mechanisms.
So, for primary prevention of heart attacks and strokes a baby or low dose aspirin a day can help. For blood pressure problems you need blood pressure medicine.
