    Re: Who knows.........

The more I search it the more I keep finding that endurance training in both humans and all animals significantly increased the tendon collagen. So far, this has stood true in every tendon they've used. I've read probably 50+ articles on this since this happened.

My best bet is probably going to be EQ/low test(under 200 mg/wk) and endurance activity. However, I have no idea how long it will be before I can even start something like that. I've going to ask Friday at my next PT session. I'm supposed to be able to loose the boot in a week. So, I will be in just my tennis shoe then. I guess I will just walk for 5 minutes three days a week or whatever I'm allowed to do.

Question: EQ is going to shut me down, but how long before it does? I know it takes several weeks to kick in so does it take several weeks before it shuts you down? I may just take it only for 4-6 weeks and then add the low dose test.

All and all, it looks like my idea of the walking thing is probably going to be what I need but I won't be able to jog on it for longer than I originally expected.

Thanks again guys for all your input on this!

Thanks bro! I've been driving myself crazy looking, but I just can't find anything more than the % giving for test, EQ and deca. Maybe I'm just not serching it properly and it needs a fresh mindset.

I owe you big time for your efforts!

As far as the amount of time before EQ. shuts you down, I would think it would begin to diminish your natural test levels within the first 3 weeks. I could be wrong but the ester is already releasing in your system at the first and second weeks although you will not feel the complete effects until later on like around 6-8 weeks. It will slowly build up blood plasma concentrations until it starts showing its full effects later on. Just my opinion, but I would assume that it will slowly start to shut you down in the first 3 weeks like I said earlier.

Cool, that's a little sooner than I was thinking but it makes more sense.

              Re: Who knows.........

Wow, I found some very interesting info. Prolotherapy! Here's the low down, tendons and ligaments have very little blood flow by design, therefore a person usually never gets completely healed and as a result there is a lot of scar tissue. This type of treatment actually causes an irritation where the tendon attaches to the bone. The result is the body forces more blood and nutrients to the area to heal it quicker. Also, which I find very interesting, when dealing with tendon or ligament damages it's not a good idea to use ice or anti-inflamatories. This will reduce the blood flow and therefore reduce the needed nutrients and blood cells to heal the injury.

Hmmm....this is the exact opposite of what the PT tells me. They tell me to ice the tendon after activity. Why the hell would I want to reduce the healing process? I can understand if it's a joint and you want to reduce pain or swelling but this makes no sense when it comes to tendons, since they have such little blood flow anyways.

There are specialists in this area so I'm going to call one tomorrow and ask if one of these shots will speed my recovery and reduce the scar tissue. If so, I'm all over it.

              Here's some info on it:

                Re: Who knows.........

Ok, scrath the above comment! To date, the medical community does not approve this. That could be because it takes money out of their pocket, but never the less, insurance companies don't recognize it as necessary and won't cover the cost of it.

I did talk about the theory of getting more blood to injuries in tendons and so far, my surgeon, my PT and another PT have no logical explanation why it's good to ice a tendon when blood flow is so low as it is. Everyone one of them said something to the effect of 'thats just what you do'. I would counter with 'why, there's so little blood flow anyways, why limit the nutrients from reaching the injury?'. I told them I wasn't going to ice anymore because I wanted as much blood to get to the injured area as possible and asked them if they had any proof that this would make things worse and they said 'no'. They said they would ice it if it was them, but then again, they make more money if therapy takes longer.

On another note, I have found that Vitamin C, Copper, Lysine, Arginine and Zinc all play vital roles in collagen production from a natural point of view. So, I've sent the wife shopping for foods high in these things. Some of the aminos I will have to take in supplement for to get them isolated so they actually cross the blood brain barrier to stimulate the pituitary gland. Otherwise, they will be useless. It's their role in increasing GH production that contributes to the increase in collagen production.

Interesting theory. Let us know how the new foods work out.

                    Re: Who knows.........

I went to PT today and talked with a different PT and we had a detailed conversation about it. Man, she knows her stuff. After a long discussion she says to me "it sounds good in theory but if you want to increase blood flow, just add heat." I just looked at her thinking 'I'm a dumbass, yep, capital D-U-M-B-A-S-S, dumbass.' I'm going through all this trouble and the simple truth is all I need to do is apply heat once or twice a day and that will increase blood flow without costing me hundreds of dollars. LOL

Also, she applied this laser therapy that is supposed to speed up healing and she did a lot of massaging to break down some of the scar tissue. She said it's basically one of these things that gets better every week, but right now it's so early in the PT process that things seem slow. She said it will soon begin to start showing signs of improvement and then the improvement will speed up.
