  • Correct Injection Technique

When doing a subcutaneous injection, I have been gripping a fold of flesh/flab on my inner thigh between my thumb and index finger. I then inject into the top of this fold of flesh right between the thumb and index finger.

But after reading the FAQs on growth hormone, I am wondering if I should be injecting an inch or so below the fold I have pulled up directly below either my thumb or index finger.

Which is right? The 1st way or the 2nd way?

Does it make much difference as long as it’s under the skin and not IM?

    Thanks,

    Farrar

I prefer the waist. You can go all around it hitting different spots every time. The back of the arm is good too. Never done the thigh though bro so sorry can't help.

Hi, I'm an R.N. The correct way to do a subQ injection is to hold the needle, bevel up, at a 15-30 degree angle to the skin. Degree to skin can vary depending on bodyfat. Your goal is to inject into the subcutaneous fat under the skin, not the muscle. You want to use a needle no larger than a .5 inch. You can't inject large amounts of solution. Look up Heparin or Insulin injections for further info. Hope this helps.

By the way, if you inject and the solution runs out, you probably want to try a deeper angle.
