Hey bro's, i wanted to get your thoughts on this. I just recently hit 30 and i have done 4 cycles and people can see the diffrence from 2 years ago. I have alot of friends that are at the 30-37 age mark that are wondering if this is for them. I have said hit the gym eat right and do all the natural stuff out. But when you start getting up there in age the body doesn't react like it does when your in your early 20's. So for old farts like myself is AAS an acceptable choice even if you can't naturally get down to the magical 10-15% BF? It just seems almost impossible for alot of my bro's to grow naturally anymore and yeah they are looking to turn back time and thought this might be the way to do it. To a point atleast. Just wanted it to throw it out there to see what the rest of you guys say.

Re: Age & AAS
if you are asking if it is ok to juice in the 30's, then HELL YEA! GH turns back the hands of time for older guys from what I hear but that is a whole other thing. Not only is your body not healing like it did its not producing the same amounts of hormones you did in your 20s.

Re: Age & AAS
Lol, im not condoning aas, and if they are not at 12-14% bf at least and with an excellent training, diet and knowledge, id say no. Now on the other hand if they have reached a plateau and can not get over it and are serious and researched the subject thoroughly enough, then id say "Go for it". I would though suggest milder forms of aas. I myself am 46yrs, so i only use hg testosterones. Mostly Depo test or Testovirons, and EQ of high quality. I will prob use Primo next spring. These are the only oils i use now. I will add orals such as T-bol, Stan, Var, Proviron (which is not a steroid). Id say these are all ok for older folks. Also, it is a good idea to get a good physical and have everything checked before starting, just to make sure stuff like bp, heart rate, liver, kidneys are all of normal values. The key here MODERATION, lol. ***note the word moderation***Last edited by mick-G; 07-07-2005, 09:00 PM.

Re: Age & AAS
I agree with what has already been said. First, they need to be sure they are in good health by seeing a doctor. Second, they need to have a good history of weight training already under their belts - say 5-10 years of serious lifting, with the appropriate dietary habits in place. At that age you cannot stroll into AAS use without serious risks, so it is important to have a base of training knowledge and good training habits in addition to a solid base of muscle. Other than that, there is no reason why a 30-something should steer clear of using AAS. It certainly can help you to prod your body into the kind of response it gave when you were younger. Be sure to emphasize to your friends the importance of research and safety.

Re: Age & AAS
AAS will not make you lose fat. The only thing that AAS does (basically) is increase protein synthesis, which enables the body to recover faster. (remember, I said basically)Originally posted by Plucks. So for old farts like myself is AAS an acceptable choice even if you can't naturally get down to the magical 10-15% BF?

if you cannot get down to 10-15% bf, then, barring any medical conditions, you quite simply haven't achieved a level of discipline with regards to your diet that is required to get the most out of anabolics.
i look at it like this- if you are going to take the risk(s) associated with AAS usage, why not do everything you can to maximize the benefits of use while minimizing the potential hazards? one of the biggest ways to do this is through your diet.
while using your lipid profile is going to be negatively affected. you are also likely to accumulate fluids (water weight) which will put further undue stress on your heart.
combine this with a poor nutritional program (one that keeps you from getting under 15%) and you are quite simply asking for it. these risks become even more dangerous as you age.
however, if you sort your diet out with discipline and vigor, you can effectively almost eliminate the majority of risks to your heart and circulatory system in general.
this means: drastically limiting if not eliminating refined sugar intake along with simple carbohydrates, saturated fats, and sodium, timing carbohydrate intake and tapering off as the day progresses, eating every 2.5 hours, etc. etc. etc.
and, even if you do everything in your power to sort out your diet and get your bodyfat/water retention very low, you still run the risk of incurring side effects from the drugs you use, depending on what you use. many of these aren't life threatening, but can cause problems none the less aka hair loss, prostate hypertrophy, acne, joint injury, etc.
so you have to employ other methods to eliminate these risks, be it avoiding certain drugs or the administration of other subatances to counteract certain effects.

Re: Age & AAS
Kind of a reverse question from the typical age and as questions... Like "I'm 16 and hit a plateu, can i juice!?" haha Nice to atleast see a change. I feel you've gotten some really great feedback here, i would also say, get that Body fat down through a strict diet, then, at that age i would so go ahead and hit it up.Yep, thats right, i'm a monkey and you're not.

Re: Age & AAS
I agree on that, as a matter of fact, I have been doin' it off and on since I was like 37 and I am 43 now, it has helped me in a bunch of ways, I had been serious training since 1986, so I feel I got my time in. AAS has helped me feel better, look better, and even have sex better, cause when some you guys reach 37-40 yoa, and have stopped doin' AAS, you will see that sex drive diminish...and will probably shit, when your woman says is that all the time you can give? HA HA. J/K...It has its benefits, along with its drawbacks. I love the stuff.
Strength, Power, and Love of the game is all you need.

Re: Age & AAS
Bro I didn't start until I was 46, but I had 4 year of training in the gym. Your friends need to get their joints and tendons stronger before juicing. Starting to juice out the gate, can cause problem with joints and tendons, that age won't let heal as fast as when we were younger.
As far as the fat goes, 300mg of test has been shown to help older men to lose body fat, be cause being older your hormones are down, the raising of those hormones will help with fat loss. With that said, gear isn't a magic potion either, it still takes work, dedication, a good diet and cardio, to get to a youthful state.
