Taking recombinant DNA will cause activation of aldosterone by the Adrenal Cortex. This leads to less excretion of Potassium and Sodium by the Kidneys. There is also a significant Plasma Renal Activity (PRA). The increased Sodium absorbtion causes the water to follow it into the tissue due to osmotic drag.

Usually when administering GH there is a short term effect of water retention which will usually normalize after 7 to 28 days of use.

Basically It's a problem with sodium accumulating in the peripheral tissue which causes water to get back to an isotonic solution. Taking a dieuretic will do nothing for the root problem as you'll still be left with sodium accumulated. Decreasing your sodium intake is the only way to effectively fight the water retention. Artificial sweeteners aren't absorbed in the GI system for the most part therefore they can't accumulate to draw water in.

Thanks CJ-I always like to know the "why's" It's definitely better again-I'm am being super vigilant with watching sodium intake. No aspartame, and about 1/4 of the Splenda I used to ingest just in case. 24 days on now-can still feel fluid in my joints, especially fingers, knees and ankles, and see it in my stomach. But not as bad!
