  • Newbie looking to lose weight

I started dieting and working out at months ago at 456 pounds. I am down to 301 but have plateaud. I am doing the atkins diet and just taking the vitamins he recommends. I lift 5 days a week doing around 30 to 45 minutes of cardio after each lifting session. I also do karate 5 days a week.

I haven't taken any type of supplements except for protein shakes and am wondering what you guys recommend. I have been reading about a lot of the supplements out there legal and not and would like to know what you think.

    Thanks in advance,

i would try posting this in the nutrition or supplement forum, but one of my personal favorites is Xenadrine. I lost 40lbs in 12 weeks using that with a sesible diet.

Keep up the Hard work!!! I know how it is

Awesome work! A 150lb drop in weight is incredible, you should be proud of yourself.

I dont know a whole lot about fat loss. Do a search on the follwing, see what you like/dislike:

        Clenbuterol
        DNP
        T3
        ECA
        NYC
        Ephedra
        Yohimburn(sp?)

Maybe start with a simple ECA stack or some clen?

Also I'd like to stay away from ephedra. I know a few people who have taken it with really bad results and my trainer is totally against it. He thinks roids can be ok if cycled and taken properly but is totally against ephedra. If thats a last resort I would consider it, but would probably go illegal first.

here's some good info about clen, i picked up from Anabolic Anony.

Clenbuterol works the same way as ephedrine. However, unlike ephedrine, which is out of the body in a few hours, clenbuterol lasts for days. So you are on it 24 hours a day. No one chooses to be on ephedrine 24 hours per day, because it interferes with sleep, and so clenbuterol is more effective.
Also, for the same effect on fat cells, clenbuterol accelerates heart rate less, so one can use effectively a higher dose. (Not a greater quantity, but a dose giving a greater effect on fat cells for the same effect on tachycardia.)

It results in severe downregulation of beta receptors, which moderate ephedrine use does not do. Thus, it is particularly effective only for a short time.

Typically if using clenbuterol the dose would be about 100 mcg per day. It is not anabolic (or significantly so.)

Give it a try, can't hurt. You can get some at www.researchkits.com , i believe

Congrats on the work bro and welcome aboard !
It sounds like your trainer is a powerlifter....but anyway, you say you have reached a plateau which is quite common. Your trainer should know what to do here and it sounds like he might not be the best for your goals. You need to totally switch your program around, mix it up...vary the intensity in your cardio, ect. As you have seen, your body responded very nice in the beginning since it was all new. See where I am going...make it all new again...and then again.
Keep us posted on your progress !

the clean seem pretty appealing to me later on. I think i'm gonna take that later on myself

I do change up my lifting routine about every 8 weeks. I start a new one in two weeks and was considering using something to help me when I start the new one. My trainer just says I should be more patient but patience isn't something I am full of.

I would recomend nothing but the shakes as far as supps go, but that kind of depends on you (your stats and what not now, hight, age training ect) If you are still pretty high bodyfat things like clen and other stim's would put a lot more stress on your heart.

One thing I would suggest is looking into the CKD type diet rather then atkins. They are both low carb high fat med protein diets but the CKD has a 1-2 day carb up. This might be the change you need to get going again b/c it would increase your metabolism quite a bit. Also you MAY not be eatting enough and you could be putting your body in "starvation" mode where it will hold on to what you have b/c your activity levle is much higher then it used to be (remember your body will try like hell NOT to let u starve!)

                            Ok here are my stats

                            6'1"
                            27 years old
301 pounds, havent done a body fat test since i was around 360, and was at 35% then.

I started lifting last june for the first time ever.
My current lifting cycle is one body part a day, back, chest, legs, shoulders and tris, bis and forearm on the 5th day.

My new routine will be a back and bi, chest and tri, leg and shoulder rotation, as well as a heavy, moderate, light rotation.

Luckily I don't have a bad heart, bad back, bad joints, high cholesterol or any other other overweight issues.

I did go thru starvation mode for about 3 weeks. For no reason I cut out a ton of food. I have reupped my calories to around 2500-3000 a day.

Unreal progress, congrats. Maybee take a short break from the exercise like 1 week, cheat a little with your diet, and I mean a little. Your body is not in a state of Ketosis, you need to keep your body and metabolism honest. It now thinks this is your new way of life at all times and the body makes adjustments. Sometimes by taking a break and cheating very little, keep's the body and metabolism honest. Throw it off a little, and maybee you can jump start your diet again and the ketones will increase. Also buy Chem strip's, its a urin test that tells you if your in ketosis or not. I would hold off on the agents to a certain extent. DNP? forget it, Please. OTC ECA is what I would start with. Are you under medical supervision at all? Keep up the good work..
