  • Measuring with a syringe

This may sound like a really stupid question....I have B-D syringes and when I measure, I'm not exactly sure where to read. With the needle pointing upward, i look at the black rubber piece on the plunger. It has a point (almost looks like a mini pyramid). Do I read where the point is (top od pyramid) or where the black straight line is (bottom of pyramid)....the difference is only 1/10 of a ml but I want to be exact as possible. Thanks.

that pyramid is used to push the last few drop of oil out. If it was flat you'd loose some oil.

I alway draw 1/10 more than what i what to use, as you loose some in the cap. Don't make it difficult, just look at the lines on the syringe and drawup what you want.

I know you know what you are saying, but if I may clarify:

If you want 1ML, you draw back until he base of the pyramid is at the 1ML mark. But technically you have just drawn approx 1.1ML's becasue of the liquid that is still in the needle. When you inject you will only inj 1ML, because some will remain in the needle. Need proof. After you inject pull the syringe back and see how much is left in the tube....should be approx 0.1ML, will vary depending on length and thickness of needle

              Exactly!

Maybe re-read what he said again Mick because I don't know how to explain it any better.

When you draw to the 1.0ml line on a syringe, you are actually drawing up a total of 1.1ml but only 1.0ml is injected.

Just draw to the line where it say's, why make this more complicated

                    Re: Measuring with a syringe

I didn't realize this on my first cycle and I thought my bottle was underdosed. In a 10ML bottle you lose almost 1ML. That is why good sources give you 11ML in a 10ML bottle
