test amps

quick question,

i'm getting ready to do my 1st test cycle, and i have sherring test amps, what's the best way to break the top and extract without crushing the amp?

Just hold the amp firmly in one hand use a paper towel or piece of gauze and put it over the top of the amp and snap the top off.

If you're worried about shattering the amp score around the neck with knife, nail file or, sandpaper.

You can get a slick amp opener at www.gearboxinc.com or use the economy method xxxl83 suggested (you can use a towel or a tshirt too, the trick is figuring out where to press - press on it so that the pressure is distributed over the top and bottom parts of the amp, and use the index finger of your left hand behind the neck where it snaps)

After losing a few amps, I got one of the amp openers and I love it - hasn't gotten dull at all yet like other shittier amp openers I've had in the past.

All I have ever done was break the top off with a pair of pliers,never lost 1 yet,knock on wood.

I use a jewlers triangle file and score the neck half way around then use a bic pen top to cover the amp head and "pop", right off. Have'nt broken one yet.

take a knife, and nick the neck fo the amp. grab a bic pen cap, place it over the top, and snap at the nick on the ampo
