  • OT - My family's dog is getting put down tomorrow...

Well, at this point, I don't know how I feel about it. IMO, it should have been done a year ago.

Our family dog's name is Sprocket. He is a pure bread Shit-Tzu (sp?). These type of dog's are not much bigger then a big cat. Their faces resemble a dog that looked like it ran into a wall.

    He is 16 years old...

His health has literally faded to nothing.

If you have seen the 2nd Lord of the Rings Movie, his frame resembles that of Smeigle(sp?). He has a heart murmer, he cannot see, he no sense of smell left, he cannot hear, he has kidney disease and he has to gasp to breath. He has not eaten for the last 2 days and his condition has just downward spiriled to from near death the walk looks like a walking corpse, accept he can't walk anymore.

He was more of Mother's dog more than anything. Drugs have added probably more than a year to his life. I don't even want to think of my dog's condition; it is so sad to see someone you love fade away. Tomorrow, he is getting put down in the morning and my parents are going to out to our cottage to burry him in our pet cemetary. I will be at school.

I am so worried for my Mother. I will be there for though.

I will say this again, it is so sad to see someone you love fade away....you simply feel helpless for them.

Treasure your youth bros for you only get one life to live.

Sorry to hear that. I had a dog in that same situation, but its better for the creature not to suffer anymore. I also have a pug that is 10 years old and on heart medication. I got him as a cute little black puppy for christmas one year and now he is old, feeble, and gray. It sucks but thats life, dogs have a shorter life span than humans, just be proud knowing that you provided him a good life, much better than living on the streets, abandoned, and put down in a pound.

Also, this should be moved to the General Forum.

i feel for your bro. my dog died october of 2001. he had a tumor that was supposed to have been "non-cancerous." so the vet set up surgery for 2 weekz after he found it. my dog walked around in pain for 10 days before he finally died on his own. putting him down would have been much more human for a dog i had since i was 7

damn I love animals hate to see it like a family member.
I had a shit-zu and the damn thing only lived 10 yrs as it ate everything in sight.
It got real fat and my dad kept feeding it, helping its own dimise.

                sorry to hear that bro.

My heart goes out to you and your family my friend. Some may say it's only a dog , but I've seen pets that treat humans better than we treat each other. It's like losing your best friend.
