The hormone response to a synthetic androgen (mesterolone) in oligospermia.

Forty subfertile men with oligospermia were treated with a synthetic androgen (Mesterolone). The effect of the drug was evaluated by measuring serum testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and analysing the semen before and after treatment. The results demonstrated that in twenty-three patients treated for 6-9 months there was a significant decrease in serum testosterone (P less than 0.01); the means +/- SEM before and after treatment were 17.05 +/- 0.95 and 14.7 +/- 0.95 (nmol/l serum) respectively. There was a pronounced increase in serum LH (P less than 0.01), the values being 2.73 +/- 0.26 and 3.61 +/- 0.3 (u/l) respectively. However, no significant difference was found in serum FSH before and after treatment. The sperm concentration showed a variable response to treatment. In twenty-one patients there was either no change or worsening in the sperm concentration, whereas in nineteen patients an improvement was observed. The analysis of variance of sperm concentration and motility for the periods before and after treatment, for all the patients, showed no significant difference in the sperm concentration F1.145 = 2.82 (P=0.1).

I find this test inconclusive, as they are taking subfertile men and it is not a doubleblind study. They are also taking a very small segment of men with impotency. I also question how many mgs of Proviron these men were taking? Many of these studies use gross amounts of the drug (300-400mgs ed.) On subfertile men; I could see why the decrease. I have seen studies where if used 25-150mg ed, there is no change in test, sperm volume, or LH/FSH. In fact it acutally increased the natural testosterone levels in the blood!

I talked to my brother-in-law, and discussed this matter of the proviron. He is in internal medicine. He talked to a colleague of his who is a specialist in endrocrinology. He said that if Proviron is use as directed, within periameters of sexual dysfunction (25-100mg ed) would not likely have any changes in test, LH/FSH or sperm volume and could even increase test levels in the blood.

i agree with vandoo it took 5 mg ed after clomid and i was shut down i fet my energy go to shit and my sex drive went away after i ws done with proviron, then i had to do nolva agin to get my labido back, proviron will shut you down i know from experiance listen to 3vandoo people

If you feel you will be shut down by the proviron, my suggestion would be to, yes take the trib, and find muca puriens, which is another herb you can find at local healthfood stores or over the internet.

Yea will do, it's been two weeks now and I feel like im pretty much or close to 100% again. I'll get the trib and I'll get some muca puriens from sunharvest or gnc, and if the price is bad, then I'll order some from the internet

I think Solaray based in Provo, Utah is one of the best supplements for the muca, or any other herb supplement. I believe they also make trib. it is a national company. Their products tend to carry more of the plants photo-steroils which make the supplement more active in the body. Alot of companies make the tribulus like TwinLabs.
